At the heart of the North Port Symphony’s mission is a commitment to sharing the joy of music with our community. The Youth Musical Arts Academy of North Port (YMAANP) is proud to carry this mission forward by nurturing the musical talents of our youth. Thanks to the generous support of the North Port Symphony, YMAANP is excited to launch a new Instrument Donation program. This initiative will partner with local middle school band and orchestra teachers to identify deserving students who are in financial need and provide them with quality student-model instruments to enhance their music education.
"Our goal with this program is to give students who are passionate about instrumental music a real opportunity to thrive," says Michael Alegria, founder of YMAANP. "Trying to learn on a low-quality or outdated instrument is like learning to drive a car that only goes in reverse, only brakes occasionally, or can only turn left. It’s incredibly frustrating, and it can easily diminish a student’s desire to learn."
The program is set to begin in December 2024, marking a significant step towards ensuring that all young musicians in our community have the tools they need to succeed.
